I shivered for the hundredth time as we climbed up the steep mountainside looking for a place to stop for the night and to get out of this god-forsaken snow storm.
We were on our way up to see Maero, Moryl's best friend and I had volunteered to join him on the trip after he saved my life after being hit by a car and pinned between it and a tree. Broke a rib, my right leg and had bruising all along my right side where the car hit.
Now I was almost fully healed and able to travel with him to the top of the mountain where Maero lived.
"Look, there's a cave up ahead." I heard Moryl yell above the howling wind.
I squinted my eyes and saw the cave. It was kind of small, but any shelter is good shelter if it meant we could rest.
I followed him towards the cave as the wind picked up and nearly swept me off my feet before he caught my arm and helped my to the shelter.
I let out a soft sigh of relief as I slid down the ice wall, thankful that the wind wasn't pushing me around at least.
I closed my eyes as moryl sat next to me and I shivered again, cursing at my cold, wet fur silently and I shook some snow from my hair as best I could.
I jumped a bit when I felt him wrap an arm around my shoulders to pull me close to him. God he was warm! I didn't know it would be possible for him to be so wonderfully warm. Perhaps it was his fire half keeping him warm. Who knew..?
I purred and snuggled closer to him as he looked out the entrance of the cave and I looked out as well.
"We'll wait out the storm," His voice spoke and I swore he suddenly felt warmer as he did so, "Get some rest, you need it"
I wanted to resist, but my eyes were already drooping and I was asleep before he could even finish talking...
